The Day After Tomorrow

A blast of arctic air swept over the middle of the country. As one example, on 30 January the morning (9:00am) temperature in Toledo, Ohio was -11ºF (-24ºC). The forecast for 31 January was -16ºF (-27ºC) and for 1 Feb was -7ºF (-22ºC). Many parts of the country experienced historically record low temperatures. Wind Chill factors ranged from -40ºF and lower.

In order to preserve life and limb, many schools, community centers,  and business closed. The United States Postal Service (USPS) suspended mail delivery. Snow Emergencies would not be called unless the weather produced a significant amount of ice or snow on roadways.

The Day After Tomorrow might be science fiction, but times like this tend to make people wonder.

I love that movie even though it's pretty cheesy. But nah, it's winter. It can get very, very cold in the winter. haha
